Will You Come?

As long as we are here on this earth, and in these bodies, there will always be something to worry about. The more we allow ourselves to be disturbed by these things, the more things we have to worry about.

Our concerns are amplified when we focus on them, almost like a never-ending cycle.

Jesus gives us a solution to this cycle.

In Matthew 11:28-30, He shows us how to escape pointless worries and labor, guiding us toward something better.

Vs 28 “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened…and I will give you rest”

He did not deny the realities of labor, troubles, and even suffering that some of us may be going through. Instead, He says, “Come to Me” offering us a permanent solution. The first step to rest is to come to Him. An invitation that is open to “all” but many of us still struggle to believe it.

When we understand the one who tells us to come, it makes it easier to do so. We would know that when Jesus says come to me, He is saying that He knows the things we are going through and that we cannot help ourselves. This means He wants to help us put down all of these burdens that we carry, burdens that He has already nailed to the cross, and give us something truly worthy.

The Bible in Matt 11 vs 29 records “Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Only in Him can we truly find rest, not merely temporary freedom from struggles or comfort in difficult times. When we come to the end of ourselves and realize that we need rest, we can run to Him and receive what He offers our souls, a chance to fully experience the beauty of being in Him.

Rest is embedded in His life, and the rest of our soul begins from being aware that the one who calls unto us is the source of this rest.

Does this mean that we won’t have to labor anymore?

No!.

What it means is that we do not have to do anything alone anymore. This is the force of rest made possible by God! Christ steps in and we get to share in his life. Learning from Him and of Him. Because only when we put down our burdens, will we be able to take his yoke, and share His burdens and His desires.

Vs 30 “For my yoke is easy and my burden is light”

We can only give what reflects our true nature. That’s why He reminds us of His gentleness and humility, allowing us to trust that whatever He offers is a true representation of who He is.

‘Come to Me’, is an invitation to those who do not believe, however, it is also a reminder to everyone who wants to live in perpetual rest while fully basking in His life.

To us all, He says Come, Take and Learn.
