THE HOLY SPIRIT: OUR ASSURANCE OF SALVATION
Over the next few weeks, we will be exploring the person of the Holy Spirit and His vital role in our walk as children of God. This is a subject often misunderstood or underestimated, yet one of the most powerful truths in our Christian journey.
As we begin, I trust that the Holy Spirit Himself will walk with us, just as He did in the beginning when He hovered over the waters, bringing light to every darkness, clarity to every confusion, and revelation beyond the written words.
Romans 8:16
The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God…
Salvation is not a probationary period, it is a finished work.
To confirm this to us, God gave us His Spirit. The presence of the Holy Spirit within us is the greatest assurance that we are indeed saved and that we belong to Him. This is our emphasis for this week.
“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior.”
Titus 3:5–6 (NKJV)

Like a Ring of Promise
I know many ladies have imagined the day their partner proposes with so much excitement, and for many, it’s not merely about the question—it’s about the ring and what it means.
The moment he puts a ring on it, he’s saying, “I want this to last forever.”
Now think about this: God gave us a ring too, a promise, a seal. He gave us the Holy Spirit as a guarantee of His unchanging commitment.
“In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.”
Ephesians 1:13–14 (NKJV)
If a ring from a man carries so much significance, how much more the seal of the unchanging God? A God who never goes back on His word.

No one gives such a valuable gift for something they think won’t last. You only give a promise ring when you believe in the future of the relationship. It Is the will of the Father that not one soul is lost. This is the confidence that we have, that our relationship is Abba is precious and special.
That’s why He gave us the Holy Spirit—not as a temporary companion, but as a permanent guarantee that He’s coming back for us.
“Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.”
2 Corinthians 5:5 (NKJV)
God, our proactive Father, has made full preparation. He saw the end from the beginning and gifted us His Spirit to reassure us every step of the way.
This is one of the importance of the Gift of the Holy Spirit, and there are many more that we will come to learn in the course of this series.
