THE HOLY SPIRIT IN US ; LIKE AN ENGINE TO A CAR
Last week, we established that the greatest assurance that we belong to Christ is the Holy Spirit. I personally think it is beyond beautiful to know that we have a father that loves us so incredibly, and it doesn’t even end there, He went out of His way to make sure that we are aware, not just that, convinced. He did this by giving us his Spirit to dwell in us.
We have been given the Spirit of adoption…That we may be called sons of God
This week, we will look at how the Holy Spirit is the believer’s most important asset.
In {Ephesians 1 vs 13}, We understand that when we hear the gospel and we believe, we are given the gift of the Holy Spirit. This means the Holy Spirit is the gift, the life that we receive at salvation.
As believers – as people who have received the life of Christ, We have been given the greatest gift possible, the Spirit of God himself, and the most beautiful part is that He will be with us forever{Matt 28 vs 20}.
The latter part of that verse in Ephesians 1 vs 13 says that “we were sealed with the Promised Holy Spirit”. This proves a vital part of that scripture, the Holy Spirit is a stamp, a seal put on us by God and as long as we have that stamp we know we belong to God.
We are branded as Children of God by the Holy Spirit. So the most important ministry of the Spirit of God is that of Son-ship, also known as the “Spirit of Adoption”{Romans 8 vs 15-16}.
Because it is the Spirit in us makes children of God, we are also expected to live this whole new life that we have received by this Holy Spirit.
The entirety of our lives in Christ is to please God, to do the will of God, to live as God had originally planned for us {Ephesians 2 vs 10}.

The way to do the will of a person is to first be aware of what that will is, and the only way to know and understand what the Father will have us do at every point in our lives is through His spirit {1 cor 2 vs 11-12} , and “when we let Him”, the Holy Spirit takes us through the mind of God for our lives per season and he helps us on our journey of faith in Christ.
“When” we let him.
It is very important to note that although we have the Holy Spirit as believers, not everyone of us acknowledges Him and allows Him to do His part in our lives.
Truth is we were never meant to go on this journey by ourselves because we can’t. If we could, there would be no need for us to be given the Holy Spirit. If we could do this journey alone Jesus would not ask his disciples not to make any move before they received the Holy Spirit {Acts 1 vs 8,Luke 24 vs 49 }.

The Holy Spirit is to us what an engine is to a car. No matter how beautiful a car seems, without its engine, it is not going anywhere and a car that doesn’t move is as good as useless.
This is how much of a necessity He is to us, we will never be able to make extraordinary progress in our lives as believers without His help.
This is a basic understanding that we need to have as Children of God, as soon as we get this, it becomes easy to access those things we have been given in Christ {1 cor 2 vs 12}. We have so much possibilities in Christ, more than we can even imagine {1 cor 2 vs 9} and we can only access them through the spirit of God .
We can do so much if only we let the spirit of God lead us.
There is still so much to learn about this powerful spirit of God, and I hope that we will discuss it as we go along in this series.
But for now, please never forget, that the Holy spirit, a person in every sense, is the only way to truly live for God.
