{Rom 8 vs 14}

WELCOME to this week’s blog post!!!
I hope we have been doing a deep reflection as I have. It has indeed been a wonderful journey.
We started to study the Holy Spirit in recent weeks and I believe we have been able to learn a little bit about His exceptional importance to us as believers.
We talked about how we were not expected to live this “Christ-like” lives without the Holy Spirit and this week we will be looking through a deeper lens.

The Holy Spirit first makes us aware that we belong to God, then with that awareness is a total nature change, because our flesh, the natural man, is not tailored to act like God, or in a way that necessarily implies that we belong to God. The natural man, the man that has not been born again does not actually belong to God {Romans 8 vs 9}.
Eph 2 vs 1-3 explains how we were before accepting the new life that Christ offers, but now that we have become born again and have the Holy Spirit, with his help we are no longer controlled by the desires of the flesh.
Isn’t it amazing that we have such a solid helper?!!!
The more yielded we are to Him, the easier it becomes to say no to sin.
So when we become children of God, the Holy Spirit begins to transforming our desires, thoughts, impulses, gradually but deeply, until we are fully formed in the image of our father {2 cor 3 vs 18}.
We are now ruled by the Spirit of God. We are not left without help.
We can resist sin.
It is true that there is a constant war between the spirit and the flesh as we would read in {Gal 5 vs 16-17}. We are led by either the flesh{our natural desires and impulses}or by the Spirit of God. And as in cases of physical fights, the stronger party wins.

This tells us that if our Spirit is Stronger, if we allow ourselves to be worked upon by the Holy Spirit, the flesh will only fight a loosing battle. Light and darkness cannot co-exist, they are of opposite natures, also the flesh and the Spirit.“Walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfil the lust of the flesh” {Galatians 5 vs 16}.
After He changes our nature, He works in us gradually until we no longer desire the things we used to. The Holy Spirit is the one that helps us live above sin, helps us become stronger at resisting temptations. Because being born again does not mean that we will no longer be tempted, it just means that now we have a greater weapon and stronger spirit, so the little things that used to make us fall flat into sin, becomes easier for us to resist.
Allowing the Spirit of God work in us renews and strengthens our spirit man.
“Gal 3 vs 3”, the NLT version puts it in an interesting way, “How foolish can you be, after starting your new lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort”.
This scripture just summarizes all we need to know, we cannot live as God would have us live by relying on our own efforts alone.

The source of a thing is it’s sustenance. If we began this journey by the Spirit, we can only continue on the path through the same spirit. Anything that works, anything in this kingdom that works, works by the Holy Spirit. It is that simple!.
Till next week!
